The 2012 Project
In November of 2011, with the goal of seeing more women run for elected office in Nevada, The Action Company, in partnership with The 2012 Project, proudly launched The Nevada Coalition of The 2012 Project. Several organizations including The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada, The National Association of Women Business Owners, Emerge Nevada and New Leadership Nevada, came together in an effort to strengthen the numbers of women in elected office in the state of Nevada.
The 2012 Project was a national, non-partisan campaign created by political consultant Mary Hughes in collaboration with the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) to increase the number of women in Congress and state legislatures by taking advantage of the once-in-a-decade opportunities of 2012.
The meeting was a huge success with over 40 attendees and supporters of our efforts in attendance. I am extremely proud to say that three of the women that attended the meeting (including myself) have decided to run for elected office.
The goal of The Action Company is simple: To build the self-worth and confidence of women in order that they may know that they can run for office or do anything that their heart desires! Along with The 2012 Project and others that share the mission of recruiting and training more women to run for and get elected to office, we know that we can change the dynamics of government on all levels and strengthen the voice of women in elected office.
